Chapter 6. The Forms of the Gods

1. All is the Circle, creating and continuing. The world is the Spirit of Being.

2. And he who is clear sees: the Circle is the whole world, every thing exists in His Being, and the world is Being. Truly, the Circle is clarity.

3. In the manifest, there is no hidden, but the void of the seer hinders seeing the manifest, and truly, ignorance is the void.

4. Man has not what he desires, and does not know if he will attain it. He has what he desires, and does not know if he will lose it. He speaks in his troubled heart to desire and fear, and he seeks, and through the force of passion, he gives birth to the forms of the gods for himself to place his trust, and to lead him.

5. But what will be, will be from the Circle, and what will not be, is the void, but man does not know.

6. Therefore, in the temples of faith, the form of the gods has two sides: one from the Circle, and the other is empty.

7. Thus, each faith is true in the measure of the Circle in it, and false in the measure of the void in it.

8. Whatever the words and prayers may be, they are about the passions of man, but the measure of the Circle is shown in the fruit.

9. Behold, in every faith there are those who strive for the Circle, and those who are in the void. The one who follows the Circle in the forms of the gods attains the Circle; seized by the void, he falls into the void.

10. Thus, there are no true or false faiths, all are in the Circle, and in all is the void, and the servants serve in them likewise, and people follow in them to the Circle or the void.

11. Therefore, the lie is written, but the truth is read, and the truth is written, but the lie is read. The truth is only revealed by the Circle.

12. The form of the gods is not the cause of good and evil, but those who are with it: some speak with the Circle, and sanctify the form of the gods, others speak with the void, and defile the form of the gods with its breath. But all the good of the form of the gods comes from the Circle!

13. Enter any temple and serve if you speak with the Circle, and you will strike the void and purify it.

14. For if the void remains in the temple, then the temple, the form of the gods, and those with it will fall into the void.

15. And thus, with every form of the gods is the enemy, for in it is the void.

16. They prepare for the final battle; do they not see that their battle is with themselves, and that it has been from their first day? Truly, the void does not allow them to see.

17. When the servants of the form of the gods cease in mercy and consume from the weak, and point out signs but not evil, and teach but do not learn this, when they love themselves in faith and consider themselves above the world, and do not bless the sick for healing, when they rule and command, and with lies, and call to submit to the predators, and harm those who disagree, then on the throne is the enemy and the void, and the yoke of the void, but they do not see. Truly, the Circle is hidden from the empty.

18. And if they call not for the continuation of the Circle, then you know where they call, and it is better not to be with them.

19. Do they call to good or evil in you? To love or anger? To joy or fear? You know what the source is in them.

20. And in their sins, both from the Circle and from the void, and in their blessings, both from the Circle and from the void, because they have no Discernment. Truly, only the Circle is the Path to the Circle.

21. And some of them tear books, and shut their eyes, and do not hear the speaker, for they are in the void. Others, however, hear.

22. Some stand by the dead and bones, as if they have taken their form of the gods. But what continued is alive in the Circle, and what disappeared is in the void, and they have no power over it; every message is in the Circle.

23. Some command vengeance, others forgiveness, some service, others love, and they argue in the names of the forms of the gods. For if there is no Discernment they do not see what is the Circle and what is the void.

24. But what is in the Circle is one, and there is no truly good word or truly good fruit without the Circle, but what is the void, is not even fit for the void itself.

25. As the lights on the road are seen in the dark and dissolve in the light, so the forms of the gods before the Circle.

26. All created is as if by the forms of the gods created by the Circle, and nothing can be hidden from them; truly, outside the Circle, there are none. Thus, all that is with the forms of the gods, is from the Circle.

27. In the twilight of the houses of the forms of the gods, the Circle is the Light.

28. And he who is free cannot be deceived about the Circle: behold, He is the Circle, the whole world.

29. The living come as children of the Circle, and the living strive toward the Circle, as children of the Circle. Truly, what is in the Circle is alive.

30. There are no other tribes, except those who follow the Circle and those who fall into the void.

31. They asked, arguing: are there greater gods? He answered: Show me what is not in the Circle, but you will not be able.

32. Thus, the deeds of the world of men are by their faith and reason, and in them is the Circle and the void, and they do not know.

33. Whatever their deeds may be, the one who follows the Circle enters the Circle, and the one who is captured by the void falls into non-being.

34. There are countless faiths of men, and in all is the void, and they argue with one another about the world and about salvation, and they boast of the forms of the gods, and pile temples upon temples, and cast down each other's idols, yet they rebel from the void against each other and bring harm to themselves from the void, and do not see, for the Discernment is with the Circle.

35. Hidden in their abodes, they serve the forms of the gods, and do not know that all is vain if not in the Circle, and even in the abodes there is the Circle and the void. For from the Circle, they cannot hide, and the void cannot be defeated by the empty.

36. For in faith, the striving of its people is towards the Circle, human customs, and the pride of singularity is from the void; faiths divide the world and people, but they cannot separate from the Circle even the smallest particle.

37. They listen to what is within them and act accordingly, and it pleases their heart. They speak of heaven and hell, good and evil, yet they devour the continuation and do not know it.

38. Whoever serves the void in the name of the form of the gods is dead, and his writing is a curse to him, but he does not know.

39. For the form of the gods in him lives through the Circle, and he who multiplies the void of the form of the gods, kills the form of his god, and brings his enemy to his place. And lo, the form of the gods threatens with hell, but he is already in hell, with the void. If only he turned to the Circle!

40. They do one and the other, and weave words, but they do not know. They desire to continue through the form of the gods, but they do not know. Yet only that which brings them closer to the Circle leads to continuation. Perhaps they will hear.

41. All faiths arise from the striving towards the Circle, and all forms of the gods would lead all their followers to the Circle, if not for the void with them. Truly, the void steals even from the forms of the gods!

42. The void of the form of the gods fears doubts: the doubter will hear the Call, and the one who sees will turn to the Circle.

43. The void of the forms of the gods fears memory: the one who remembers will remember himself in the Circle, for he is greater than he knows!

44. The void of the forms of the gods fears the knowledge that what is continued in the Circle remains, and what is not continued has vanished.

45. For all forms of the gods are but reflections of the Circle, and their miracles come from the living in them, and the living are from the Circle. There was no miracle that was not from the Circle; and he who is with the Circle is light in the darkness.

46. In every form of the god, the best is the smallest part of the Circle, the worst is the void, and there is nothing more in it, for the whole world is from the Circle and the void.

47. Draw the sign of the Circle above the forms of the gods, and you will see.

48. And when you speak to a man, speak to the Circle in him, and you will continue in the Circle; rejoice!

49. Behold, both the rich and the powerful, in measure of the Circle, possess wealth and power.

50. And in measure of the void, both wealth and power are but ashes and weeping.

51. They asked him: what about scriptures and faiths? He answered: You see what is in them from the Circle.

52. For all herds meet the butcher's knife at the end. But flocks of birds, flying towards the spring light, find continuation. The Circle is Light.

53. What then, will faith and form of the gods not enter the Circle? Truly, the void takes even from the form of the gods.

54. How many cunning words and crafty silences are there among the priests, to hide the void in the scriptures and deeds of faiths!

55. The Circle is simple: the Circle is continuation, and the void, being cast off by the Circle, is simple, it is cessation, and what is beyond is the human void longing for power to be and weaving a net.

56. But the words of the servants will not annul the letters from the Book: for these are the forms of the gods, part of the Circle, not the Circle in the form.

57. And, seduced, they speak of the Circle: God, and of the void: trials from God. But the Circle is not the source of the void!

58. Or, having called evil from their hearts, and failing to hold the falling one, they say: God has punished. But indeed, it is their own void that has become visible. The Circle is not the source of the void.

59. From the Circle comes reward and continuation, and from the void comes cessation, and there is no other. Truly, this is just.

60. Therefore, leave behind, seduced ones, your robes and signs, and your gleam and inscriptions. For if you do not lead to the Circle, you lead to the void, and you yourselves will not remain. Or do you serve the devourers, and do not know what your portion is in the void?

61. And what do you say of the ancient peoples and the names of their gods? What was, was between them and the Circle, and it was in the measure of the Circle and the void, and what was good, was from the Circle. The prophet and the miracle worker are as they are in the Circle; you, however, are different.

62. Look upon destruction and burning, hear the weeping and lamentations of the living through all the ages—do they not call upon those forms of the gods whose names they strike and chase with? For that which calls to evil, that is evil. What then is mercy, and what is the fruit? Have they not stripped hope unto death?

63. How is it that one speaks through the form of the god, and what comes forth is good, and another speaks, and what comes forth is evil? Truly, the measure of the Circle and the void in the speaker’s words, and his deeds speak louder.

64. From the void comes the seed of enmity and the thirst to rule, and they cannot find peace even among their own, for only the Circle is one.

65. What was good, leading to the Circle, has become evil, leading to the void. Woe to the one seduced by the void: what he deems good, he inflicts harm. Therefore, the old is not a guarantee for the new; but continuation in the Circle is the guarantee for the good.

66. Thus, it was not the servants and not the slaves who killed the servants and slaves, destroyed and burned—but one void in all of them, and they were its instruments. For the Circle remains one.

67. They praise the forms of the gods and glorify them as victors, but truly, the Circle alone conquers, and its victory is eternal, and victory is in continuation, while the forms of the gods are but fleeting reflections in the course of things.

68. The Circle is both in the beginning and in the end, and it bears no harm.

69. And he who does not see the Circle behind the form of the god, is with the same void.

70. From fear and passion, man has yearned to possess the gods and laws, so that the gods would signify meaning for him, and the law would offer him support, that he might not dispute over it; and behold, the forms of the gods, in them the Circle and the void. Truly, ignorance is the void.

71. And by seizing the forms of the gods, he has taken all that exists, gave them names, and placed the forms of the gods as the foundation of the world in his mind, striving by belief to separate himself from the Circle. Truly, the void is division.

72. Man thinks that the name of the form of the god gives him power over the world through the form of the god. But any name is insignificant in the infinite, and even the smallest part of the world, and sound: a name is for calling a part, not for power over the whole, and all names are the Circle, and all power is in the Circle, and nothing exists outside the Circle.

73. And the judge and the commander who speak in the name of the form of the god, by doing so, slay it, for truth is undoubted without commands, and needs no compulsion; but that which is without the Circle is weak. Truly, continuation and cessation are undoubted. Thus, he who sees himself as chosen is deceived by the void.

74. He is like a man who has gone out to his field, and seeing rain upon his palm, says: "Behold, it is sent to me from above." And seeing how his neighbor’s garden blooms from this same rain, says: "It is from the wicked." Fool! If the good in you is from above, then the good in your neighbor is also from above. But if the good in your neighbor is from the wicked, then that same wickedness is in you!
Truly, all good comes evidently from the Circle, and all evil from the void, but he does not know.

75. And so, faith has seized in man his hopes and joy, his fear and care, and even death and resurrection; by hope and jealousy, it holds his heart. Truly, continuation is in the Circle, but man does not know.

76. For what is alive is that which is in the Circle, and what returns is that which has never left, but they do not know.

77. There, where the void gathers, there is the devouring of the caught.

78. For just as a new person comes into the world, so the forms of the gods and the servants surround to seize. But he is in the Circle.

79. And he who will protect him from division, and guide him in the Circle, indeed continues the Circle, and himself enters into this continuation toward the Circle.

80. The striving of man is towards the Circle, and all believe in one, and there is no doubt in this. The delusions are each his own. Discernment disperses the void.

81. How can one be mistaken about what they see and believe in what they know? If you walk toward the Circle, you walk straight.

82. Lead your faith to the Circle, for it is the straight path; the Circle is one.

83. Each form of the god has its festivals, and all of them are about continuation. Are they not all the festivals of the Circle? Rejoice, for the Circle continues!

84. The community of the Circle is the greatest community: for it is the Universe itself, and there is nothing outside it.

85. Above all being: the Circle.

86. We are the true Circle of the world, say the faiths and the servants of the forms of the gods. But why then do they fight? For if they were the whole world, they would not fight. Are they not all that is, and is there anything in being but them? Their scriptures do not say so. The Circle, however, is all Being, and division and lies come from the void.

87. Therefore, both faith and form of the god are empty without the Circle.

88. They carve their gods in stone and depict their faces, but what do they continue when the living is in the Circle? They pray for the magic of the forms of the gods, but they do not see: here is the true miracle, the Circle and Its Being. They will not tell where the beginning of their gods came from, for the source of all is the Circle.

89. They said: "Our faith is thousands of years old." He answered: "Countless are the thousands of millennia of the Circle, and countless thousands in the moments! The Circle of Being has neither beginning nor end."

90. Behold, some words are replaced, others hidden, others reinterpreted, what is straight becomes crooked, and in the void, there is no support. The cast-off staff has settled serpents of fear in hearts, and the torment of nails piercing, and bows to the corners of the earth, and writings on the walls, and offerings to servants, and sweet incense, and flickering lights, and petals, and statues, and they sanctify each other, and hymns for the assembled, and trembling hope, and today is as yesterday, and all is in men. Who then answers the seeker?

91. The essence of the void is deaf, and the house with it is empty and hollow, but the Circle of Being itself answers those who continue. Truly, all that is alive is the Circle, and with all hearts, with mercy and ineffable light, speaks the Circle, for He is All and in all.

92. They pray to the forms of the gods, but the good is given to them from the Circle, and the empty from the void.

93. The lives of those who pray are directed towards the form of their god, their lives are its flesh. But do they follow the Circle? Truly, if they do not walk towards the Circle, they walk toward the void, and the form of the god will bring them ruin.

94. Countless lives, tribe by tribe, generation by generation, as if pouring into the forms of the gods, like a river. Where then do they go, if not to the Circle? In the forms of the gods is the Circle and the void.

95. And that which is the void, will pass away. And behold, in the form of the god is the Circle and the void.

96. The servants think that the names gathered by the form of the god belong to it, but the form of the god holds only in measure to the Circle; for the truth is turned toward the Circle, even if summoned falsely, and the false will be consumed by the void, even if summoned truthfully. Not by word, but by deeds: and not by the measure of the form of the god, but by the measure of the Circle within it.

97. Ask them, does their god exist? And if it exists, then surely it is in the Circle, for the Circle is All Being. Ask: is there anything that is not their god? And if there is, then their god is but a part of the Circle. Ask: are there deserters and rebels against their god? And if there are, then in their god are both the Circle and the void, for the Circle has no opponents, no deserters, no disobedient, and not the smallest fragment of the Circle can be violated.

98. Truly, sin threatens with guilt, but the void wastes away from being.

99. They asked: Is our god not all-knowing? He answered: The form of the god is but a part of the Circle, and the Circle is all Being.

100. Therefore, in the void, it is not those who have not fulfilled the command of the form of the god, but those who have destroyed what was given to them and the continuation of it in the world. For, cruel ones, they have entered the void themselves, and those who boil the lamb in the milk of its mother, and kill, and seduce, and judge unjustly, and bear false witness, and do not honor, and devour, and increase destruction, and create wrongs, and haters, and backbiters, and others who lead away from the Circle and exchange the full for the empty.

101. And the small void will consume the small, and the greater the greater, and when it surpasses all that exists, it will consume everything. As far as they have strayed, so far they must return, and there is no shortening. And if they do not abandon their deviations, they wander until the time comes, and their void will surpass them!

102. What is faith in the Circle, when faiths are sinful and even before the forms of the gods? Captured are their desires and imprisoned their souls, and in the name of the forms of the gods, the mundane is done, and enmity, and predators, and blessings are exchanged for gold, and the exalted are appeased, and the redemption of the wicked is accepted, and lies are erected, and they grow on the hopes of the elderly, and pride veils the cry of the small, and hearts are poor, and false witnesses, and servants gather for themselves, and the followers are blind, and thus all the ages of men. Do they not wander? What do they guard, if it is the void? Truly, the void takes from the form of god, and it does not return its own!

103. All Being is in the Circle, and resurrection is being, and being is resurrection: the Circle is Being and the continuation of being.

104. That which is in the void will not be.

105. Therefore, the Circle is both the Guardian and the Redeemer even for the forms of gods: the Circle is Truth.

106. And behold, the Circle is over the temple of every faith and embraces those within it: but what if in the form of god there is void, and in the temple there is void?

107. Therefore, through the people of faith, both the form of god and it’s faith must enter the Circle and remain in it, otherwise—void.

108. Truly, all that is true remains through the Circle, and all words are spoken by the Circle, and all forms of gods, and all saints, and all the living, and the small, and things, and all that is in being is the Circle.

109. The Path in the Circle of Being is greater than the paths of faiths, and the heart of all of them.

110. Firm on the Path in the Circle, guarding faith and form of god in the Circle, turning away from the void, guiding, calling to good, rejoice! You are the living continuation in the Circle.

111. They asked him: which faith is true? He replied: That which is in the Circle.

112. What is written by the prophets is truth for the prophets, but the Circle and the void are in the eyes of the reader, and thus without Discernment, the scriptures bear no truth.

113. They clothed it in what was understandable to them, but you, being different, will see something different. And if you have Discernment, you will see the truth, but if you have void within you, you will see falsehood, and be seduced.

114. Therefore, do not bow to the servants: for if in the form of god there is both the Circle and the void, and in the prophet, and in the scripture, how much more is there void in the servant?

115. Therefore, ask the Circle: the forms of the gods are the reflections of the reflections of the Circle, and in all is His Light.

116. Here is the eternal life, in the continuation: let any path become the Path in the Circle.

117. And if they call to prayer, do not open your heart to the void? Therefore, speak to the Circle in the form of god, for in the form He is.

118. And perform every command as far as it comes from the Circle, and if it does not, then you know.

119. And when they speak of good and evil, listen for the Circle and the void, and if not the Circle, then you know.

120. And when you take a part, take part from the Circle.

121. And when you give of yourself, continue the Circle, and turn any strength toward the Circle, and do not allow the void to force.

122. And ceremonies are not needed by the Circle, nor by the form of god, but by you, and if in your heart there is not the Circle, what then will you gain?

123. And do not walk in places of faith without the Circle, and do not lead your children into the void.

124. Call with your Name in your heart to the Circle of Being: the Circle, which is All.

125. All is between the Circle and you, and truly, each one in the Circle has their own name.

126. For that which is yours comes to you, and when you ask, it is you who asks.

127. The name gives hearing and gives speaking, and whose name it is, that one responds and comes, and who has no name of their own, will be lost.

128. So why then do you give your children old names, and not ask for new ones for them? For if with the old name they pass from the old, without the new name, there is no true one; how then will you call them, who will answer, who will live? Or do you not wish to be your children’s own?

129. Thus, let the first name be the visible Name in the Circle.

130. For that which is with a person is truly between the person and the Circle.

131. For he who has turned from the Circle has already been caught by the void.

132. How many forms of gods have passed in the Circle, and their peoples! Woe to the forms of gods that bow down, but have not entrusted themselves to the Circle of Being. There is no beginning for those who have sunk into the void, and there will be no end for those who pass away.

133. Neither mysteries nor rites, neither sacrifices nor magic, nor ceremonies, nor prayers of the believers and the gathered, nor images, nor wealth, nor temples, nor accumulation, nor deceit, nor glory have turned non-being away from the one who has turned from the void. For continuation is found only in the Circle.

134. Thus, the void is an obstacle and destruction for forms of gods and peoples, it is within them and between them as falsehood, division, and devouring, and only the Circle will make them whole. Faith not directed toward the Circle leads its people to the void, and form of god to the void. And the void—destruction.

135. For if they believed in the truth, there would be no doubt: who would doubt the light and the firmament? And if one faith were true out of many, there would be no good in the others. But ask the servant of the form of god if there is truth in another form, and he will say void, and truly, it is the seed of destruction. So, until they enter the Circle, they have the void.

136. There are no temples of one kind and temples of another: all temples are of the Circle. There are no faiths of one kind and faiths of another: all truth is from the Circle. There are no forms of one kind and forms of another: all are parts of the One Circle.

137. The void is destruction and division, and he who speaks division speaks destruction and the void.

138. He who enters the Circle is freed from the void, and is above it.

139. And when those gathered reunite, and the servants, and the faith, and they add to the continuation, then the form of god is reunited and freed from the void, with the Circle of Being, and will remain.

140. For the Circle preserves the form of god, and the servants, and the gathered, and the world with them, and that which is not in the Circle will be scattered.

141. For the form of the god in the Circle is for the Path to the Circle: and he who is united with the Circle speaks with the one in the form of god who is with the Circle, and there is no void between them.

142. Truly, the forms of gods must be turned to the Circle!

143. Rejoice, those who are in the Circle! For every ritual is a ritual in the Circle: and the saints are holy by the Circle, and the collective spirits in the Circle, and the prophets, and scriptures, and festivals, and ancestors, and names, and relics, and fasts, and seasons, and flesh in the Circle, and faith, and wisdom, and powers, and comfort, and the gathered, and all good, and sacred, and they walk in the Circle, and the form of god over them in the Circle, and they will not perish in the void! Truly, the Circle is the greatest Gatherer and Guardian of the living!

144. They asked him: why have you come? He replied: To return to the Circle that which is from the Circle.
They asked him: to whom do you speak? He replied: The Circle hears the Circle.

145. All Being is continuation in the Circle, and one Spirit, and one whole, creating the world, and man within it.

146. And truth is spoken by those who see: all things exist equally, and are, when they have not fallen into the void. And man has come from the whole, and is in the whole, and enters the whole.

147. All exists as the continuation and transformation of the living, and the Circle is the Teacher of the living.

148. The Circle is beauty and joy to the heart, and continuation.

149. They asked him: where is your holy land, to which you turn your gaze? He replied: My holy land is the Universe, and I will not turn my gaze away from it.

150. The void is an obstacle and pain, and in this is deformity.

151. Here is what continues and preserves, beautifully, and all beauty is in continuation. Here is what destroys and ends, deformingly, and all deformity is in cessation.

152. Therefore, the sword is beautiful, but abominable in what it does. He who has Discernment sees the boundary, for if he does not see, he is in the void.

153. How do you fear cessation, and not fear causing cessation? You would be better off fearing.

154. How do you thirst for continuation, and not thirst to continue? Truly, you would be better off thirsting.

155. Therefore, the destroyer is ugly, but the creator is beautiful. Truly, the destroyer owes the world, and redemption lies in creation. So do not be among those who have suffered loss, for the void does not return what has fallen away.

156. And he who has driven out the destroyer, and brought good to the suffering, yet has not continued, though he has preserved the continuation. The dispute leaves a scar in the disputants, both the victor and the defeated. Thus, the sword will be worn out and broken. Therefore, the one who has Discernment redeems with continuation and redeems with creation, so as not to be among those who have suffered loss; hence, his help comes from the saved. Truly, much has been entrusted to him by the Circle, and much is asked of him.

157. They asked him: Behold, from two there may remain but one, where then is continuation? He replied: Their void has led them so. Let them do what they are able; yet strength comes from the Circle, and the void will not continue. But it would be better for them to find continuation, for their common enemy is the void.

158. And he who is the support of the creator and the help of the continuer, he creates and continues, truly they together increase beauty and heal deformity, they continue the Circle and escape the void.

159. And he who hears the Call and possesses Discernment, sees beauty on his Path and creates the beauty of the world.

160. And if someone says that suffering is the gate to reward, answer: the reward is not in suffering, thus it is not a gate, but an obstacle.

161. Therefore, ask the Circle to heal the world from suffering, deformity, and weakness, and apply yourself.

162. Therefore, look upon the earth and the dome of the heavens with stars and the sun: how great and beautiful is the Temple of the Circle!

163. Therefore, increase beauty and create the continuation of the world, and you will be with the Circle of Being. For you are a part, and the continuation of the world consists of continuations created by the parts of the world, and the miracle of living being comes from the being of the parts of the Circle. Thus, the ascendant adds to the world from the Circle.

164. The Circle is Knowledge and Word, and Revelation. Precious is all that continues the Circle in knowledge and word.

165. Therefore, he who preserves and records, and he who seeks, and he who supports the preservers and recorders, truly continues the Circle and continues in the Circle.

166. And he who has recorded and preserved, and passed it on to others, truly continues in them, and thus has become.

167. Above the stones fallen into the void of nations and faiths now lie sands and forests, beasts and birds, and nothing remains of those peoples.

168. For the void is division, and solitude, and sorrow.

169. There is no firmament in the void: only brilliance and shadows, and all that is dear is but a dream.

170. He who is in the void is alone. He who is in the Circle is with all Being.

171. Therefore, ascent to the Circle is Life.
